About
Every time a dog is bought from a breeder or pet store, a dog in a shelter gets killed. The numbers are staggering. More than 3 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters throughout the U.S. every year. That comes to 8,219 EVERY DAY. Some are dropped off because their owners don’t want them. Others are found wondering the streets by Animal Services. My goal for this billboard is to make people realize that buying pets kills shelter animals. One puppy bought at a pet store = one puppy killed at a shelter. It’s that simple.
Many of these dogs come from puppy farms, where making money is all that matters, and the animals suffer in terrible conditions. Most are forced to live their entire lives in tiny, filthy cages stacked on top of each other, exposed to the elements at all times, without enough food or water, and no veterinary care. The females are treated like factories -- bred and bred until they’re exhausted, then often killed when unable to produce more litters. It’s absolutely horrifying. Join me in helping to bring an end to this heart-breaking cycle.
If we band together in support of this billboard campaign, we can save some animals. The thing is, I think a lot of people don’t know what’s behind the business of purebred animals. If we act together, we can fund billboards that will reach people, tell them what’s really going on, and hopefully change some minds. Please support this campaign. Together, we CAN make a difference.
